Your first Brazilian wax in Oak Brook: what to expect
Booking a first Brazilian can feel like a big step. Here is how the appointment works at The Waxing Society, what to ask, and how aftercare fits in.
If your first Brazilian wax is on the calendar, or you are still working up to booking it, you are in good company. Plenty of guests arrive with the same mix of curiosity and nerves, and nobody at The Waxing Society expects you to have it all figured out.
This guide walks through what the appointment is like in our private suite in Oak Brook, what to do before you book, and how aftercare works. Brazilian waxing is one of Lena’s two specialties, alongside brow waxing, and Lena has been a licensed esthetician for nearly 16 years.
Before you book
Services are chosen in our online booking system, not on this website. When you book, the system shows each service with its price, appointment length and any deposit, so you can see the details before you commit. Along with a Brazilian, the booking system also lists other bikini-area services, so take a moment to read the descriptions and pick the one that fits what you want.
All genders are welcome at The Waxing Society. At the moment, the Brazilian service listed in the booking system is called “Women’s Brazilian.” If you are not sure which service is right for you, or you would like to ask about something you do not see listed, send a quick email to hello@thewaxingsociety.com before you book. There is no such thing as a silly question.
What happens at your appointment
- 01.
You are welcomed into a private suite
Appointments take place in a private suite at 2044 York Rd, Suite 206, in Oak Brook (inside My Salon Suites). Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you.
- 02.
Lena explains what will happen
Before she begins, Lena walks you through the process and tailors the appointment to you. If you want to know what comes next at any point, just ask.
- 03.
The wax
Lena uses high-quality wax and professional technique, in a judgment-free setting where your comfort comes first.
- 04.
Aftercare guidance before you go
Pre- and post-wax care education is part of every visit, along with aftercare recommendations chosen for you.
Good to know about your appointment time
Because each appointment time is reserved for one guest, the studio has an appointment policy that you will see when you book. As listed on the booking page today, a card is required to reserve an appointment, and appointments should be canceled or rescheduled at least four hours ahead. If you arrive more than ten minutes late, your service may need to be shortened or rescheduled so the next guest is not affected.
Policies can change, so treat the booking page as the final word and read it when you book.
Aftercare: looking after your skin between visits
Aftercare is part of the appointment, not an afterthought. Lena gives you personalized aftercare recommendations so your skin stays smooth between visits, with fewer ingrown hairs. Because those recommendations are tailored to you, the best aftercare advice is the advice you hear from Lena in the suite, and we would rather you follow that than a generic checklist.
A few things that help, whatever you are told in the room:
- Ask Lena to repeat or clarify anything about caring for your skin. It is her job to make it easy to follow.
- Keep her recommendations somewhere handy, such as a note on your phone, for the first few days.
- If something about how your skin feels after your visit worries you, email hello@thewaxingsociety.com. For any medical or skin-health concern, speak with a healthcare professional.
Questions you might bring to Lena
Not sure what to ask? These are good starting points, and you are welcome to add your own:
- Is there anything I should do to prepare before my appointment?
- What should I do, and what should I avoid, in the days afterward?
- How often should I come back to keep up a routine that works for me?
- What can I do at home to help prevent ingrown hairs?
Coming back
Many guests make waxing a regular part of their routine. The Waxing Society offers a Society Rate for guests who return within eight weeks of their previous visit for the same service, and eligible pricing is applied at checkout in the booking system. The booking page shows the current terms.
